One of the lovely things about a holiday weekend is having time to stop and admire the flowers - even if your kids have run off back to the car because they're so scared of the encroaching tides.
It's a special place. We were glad we'd gone in, but Scottie ran round at a rate of knots, then rushed back to the car as he was so worried about the tide coming in. Mum & Dad stayed to meander round the Gertrude Jeykyll garden and admire the zingy marigolds.
Took Lottie and Scottie over to Lindisfarne or Holy Island this weekend. Scottie was very worried about getting trapped by the tide washing over the causeway. No amount of telling him about the Tide Tables would convince him that we would be sure not to get stranded there.
