Scottie's thinking about Christmas
It's started: Carol practice, concert in the diary, and now the
Christmas ICT lessons. Scottie will be exhausted by the time we get to
the 25th December.

A question of lawyers
Scottie: Mum, what do lawyers do?
Me: They annoy people!
Scottie: Ah ... (thinks) ... so my sister's a lawyer!
Lindisfarne Gertrude Jekyll Garden.
One of the lovely things about a holiday weekend is having time to
stop and admire the flowers - even if your kids have run off back to
the car because they're so scared of the encroaching tides.

Lindisfarne Castle
It's a special place. We were glad we'd gone in, but Scottie ran round
at a rate of knots, then rushed back to the car as he was so worried
about the tide coming in. Mum & Dad stayed to meander round the
Gertrude Jeykyll garden and admire the zingy marigolds.

How to terrify a 7-year old!
Took Lottie and Scottie over to Lindisfarne or Holy Island this
weekend. Scottie was very worried about getting trapped by the tide
washing over the causeway. No amount of telling him about the Tide
Tables would convince him that we would be sure not to get stranded
there.

Giant Wood Wasp
The very helpful Midlothian Ranger Service confirmed today that the
scary insect we saw was a Giant Wood Wasp. Thank!

Scottie's Penguin-cam
As the only penguins we've seen so far this summer are on Disney's
Club Penguin, Scottie decided a trip to Edinburgh Zoo was in order.

Amber Aerobatics!
Amber was the other member of our aerobatic team this afternoon. Just
as well she had room in her car to take all Kiki's luggage home.

Kangaroo Burgers!
Where else would we stock up on burgers for the BBQ tomorrow? We even
found Kangaroo Burgers for extra bounce!

Last swim at Sauchope Links
Our trip to Sauchope Links comes to an end - just as the weather
breaks and we get our first sunny morning of the week.

Emptying the Rainy Day fund
I laugh that there's a piggy bank in Bonkers at St Andrews because
every time we go there ours gets emptied.

The Grill House, St Andrews
Mum to the rescue! Had the phone number of the Grill House in St
Andrews stored in her iPhone, so a few minutes later we had a table
booked and we were heading cross country for lunch. Everyone in the
party found something delicious on the menu for lunch and with two
courses for £4.95 it wasn't too hard on the pocket either!

The wrong kind of wet
Elie beach was the wrong kind of wet this morning, so we had to
abandon plans to go on the Banana Boats.

The Intrepid tadpoles
Lottie, Scottie and Kiki brave the elements to plunge into the pool at
Sauchope. Tactic seems to be to stay deep for warmth. Kiki worrying
about her eyeliner running.

Best eggs in Fife
Mmmorning pancakes made with Kilduncan Farm eggs this morning. Lovely
yellow yolks and the pancakes were light and fluffy - or should I say
LOOKED light & fluffy. Didn't get a chance to taste any!

Pancakes to go!
Luckily the griddle came with us, so Lottie and Kiki soon had
chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, and there were enough left over
to give some to Lou-lou and Scottie when they arrived for elevenses.

Bereft of baking equipment
Hmmm. Caravan a bit lacking in the kitchen equipment department for
those of us who like to bake. Had to make do with a casserole dish for
making pancakes this morning.

Dolphins at Crail!
We saw dolphins at Crail this morning - really, really saw them!!!
Counted at least 4 swimming together - they're between shore and boat
in the photo, but I don't think I caught the fins cresting - promise
they were there though.

Kingsbarns Beach reconstruction
Ran away from rain in St Andrews but stopped in between showers to let
the kids play on the beach. Making dams and sandpies.

We're off to Craigtoun Park
Weather has brightened up so we're off to Craigtoun Park. Scottie an
early casualty - fell of the side of pedalo, but clung on to make a
fantastic recovery ensuring only trainers soaked!!

Sunday Morning Shopping
Having promised to go and fetch Grandma's shopping this morning, this
is where Lottie and Kiki's bikes remained while they pleaded with me
to take them into the village in the car. As I didn't fancy having my
morning rolls soggy and the Sunday papers blown to Fife Ness, I agreed
to take them.

Lottie's Seaside Residence
We've removed to Crail for the last week of the holidays. Lottie and
Kiki are in residence here, and Scottie and Loo-loo are staying at
Grandma's Chalet.

Pasty Invasion of Edinburgh
If we'd known there was a Pasty Stall at Edinburgh Waverley Station we
could have avoided the 12 hour drive to Cornwall this summer.
