The fourth day at school want to go on holiday already - by Lottie.

Tuesday 25 August 2009

Bashers!

Lottie discovers the Basher. Just as well it's the last day of the
holidays.

Monday 24 August 2009

Giant Wood Wasp

The very helpful Midlothian Ranger Service confirmed today that the
scary insect we saw was a Giant Wood Wasp. Thank!

Giant Bike at Vogrie

Is a giant bike where the giant wood wasp lives?

Edinburgh Zoo's Penguins

Not so much flightless birds as fish which can walk!

Scottie's Penguin-cam

As the only penguins we've seen so far this summer are on Disney's
Club Penguin, Scottie decided a trip to Edinburgh Zoo was in order.

Not quite G-Force

Scottie finds the reality of guinea pigs a bit less exciting than G-
force the Movie!

Lottie Landing

Sorry Lottie, it's harder than it looks to catch a mid air shot on my
iPhone!

Amber Aerobatics!

Amber was the other member of our aerobatic team this afternoon. Just
as well she had room in her car to take all Kiki's luggage home.

Kiki in flight!

Our intrepid adventurer in mid-air. Can post this now I've returned
her safely to her Mum.

Kangaroo Burgers!

Where else would we stock up on burgers for the BBQ tomorrow? We even
found Kangaroo Burgers for extra bounce!

Last swim at Sauchope Links

Our trip to Sauchope Links comes to an end - just as the weather
breaks and we get our first sunny morning of the week.

Window Shopping at Auchterlonie's

Just what our budding young golfers need!

Sand grafitto

Lottie at the West Sands St Andrews.

Scottie at the West Sands

It's me!

Thursday 20 August 2009

A break in the weather

A bit of blue sky and we're off down the West Sands in St Andrews.

Kiki's Kite

Minutes later, having emptied our pockets at Bonkers we're on the West
Sands flying Kiki's kite.

Emptying the Rainy Day fund

I laugh that there's a piggy bank in Bonkers at St Andrews because
every time we go there ours gets emptied.

The Grill House, St Andrews

Mum to the rescue! Had the phone number of the Grill House in St
Andrews stored in her iPhone, so a few minutes later we had a table
booked and we were heading cross country for lunch. Everyone in the
party found something delicious on the menu for lunch and with two
courses for £4.95 it wasn't too hard on the pocket either!

The wrong kind of wet

Elie beach was the wrong kind of wet this morning, so we had to
abandon plans to go on the Banana Boats.

When it's raining...

There's always the Pav at Elie for hot chocolate with all the trimmings.

Living room has become a den!

Ok, next year you can sleep in a tent.

Nutritious evening meal

Lottie and Kiki refuelled at the Anstruther Fish & Chip shop this
evening.

Smiling faces

Now, we're all wearing our smiley faces, aren't we children!

How to bribe a 7-year old

Later...Mum discovers the bribe which Lottie used to get Scottie to go
swimming. Bangers!

The Intrepid tadpoles

Lottie, Scottie and Kiki brave the elements to plunge into the pool at
Sauchope. Tactic seems to be to stay deep for warmth. Kiki worrying
about her eyeliner running.

Best eggs in Fife

Mmmorning pancakes made with Kilduncan Farm eggs this morning. Lovely
yellow yolks and the pancakes were light and fluffy - or should I say
LOOKED light & fluffy. Didn't get a chance to taste any!

Tuesday 18 August 2009

Real JCBs!

Scottie gets a chance to scoop up at Cairnie Mega Maze.

This way!

Lost in the Maze.

Ginormous jumping pillow

Everyone bouncing at the Cairnie Mega Maze.

Go kart fun

At Cairnie Mega Maze

One for you Lou-lou!

Hi Mum, Auntie says she's going to Tescos on the way home to buy a big
scrubbing brush!!

Pancakes to go!

Luckily the griddle came with us, so Lottie and Kiki soon had
chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, and there were enough left over
to give some to Lou-lou and Scottie when they arrived for elevenses.

Bereft of baking equipment

Hmmm. Caravan a bit lacking in the kitchen equipment department for
those of us who like to bake. Had to make do with a casserole dish for
making pancakes this morning.

Monday 17 August 2009

Dolphins at Crail!

We saw dolphins at Crail this morning - really, really saw them!!!
Counted at least 4 swimming together - they're between shore and boat
in the photo, but I don't think I caught the fins cresting - promise
they were there though.

Kingsbarns Beach reconstruction

Ran away from rain in St Andrews but stopped in between showers to let
the kids play on the beach. Making dams and sandpies.

Morning activities

Lottie and Kiki have started the morning with a game of Hue Knew.

Sunday 16 August 2009

Sardines!

Lottie, Lou-Lou and Kiki play sardines. The screaming version!

Boating at Craigtoun Park

Remaining members of party had a trip on the pedalos.

We're off to Craigtoun Park

Weather has brightened up so we're off to Craigtoun Park. Scottie an
early casualty - fell of the side of pedalo, but clung on to make a
fantastic recovery ensuring only trainers soaked!!

Sunday Morning Shopping

Having promised to go and fetch Grandma's shopping this morning, this
is where Lottie and Kiki's bikes remained while they pleaded with me
to take them into the village in the car. As I didn't fancy having my
morning rolls soggy and the Sunday papers blown to Fife Ness, I agreed
to take them.

Lottie's Seaside Residence

We've removed to Crail for the last week of the holidays. Lottie and
Kiki are in residence here, and Scottie and Loo-loo are staying at
Grandma's Chalet.

Thursday 13 August 2009

Scottie's Tour of The Western Isles

On a giant map of Scotland at The Gathering 25 July 2009.

Pasty Invasion of Edinburgh

If we'd known there was a Pasty Stall at Edinburgh Waverley Station we
could have avoided the 12 hour drive to Cornwall this summer.

Breakfast Beagle!

Scottie's current Peanuts Cartoon fascination led him to order a
breakfast beagle! With Nutella.

Lightning Ball at Camera Obscura

Beware the Headless Man

If you're strolling on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh, beware the headless
man! Scottie got a big fright when we were on way to Camera Obscura
the other day!

Edinburgh's Giraffes

Lottie spotted this lovely giraffe in the window of Harvey Nicks this
morning while we were out shopping.

For anyone who's heard about our shoe saga, I am sooooo happy to
report that Lottie got the 37th pair of shoes she tried on!

Monday 10 August 2009

Grandma gets a laptop!

It had to happen...21st century Grandma.

Sewing Lessons

Lottie wanted to make a patchwork throw, so the sewing lessons have
begun.
